Aerial Yoga Students Stories
Real Testimonies, from lives changed with the VATA ASANA™ Aerial Yoga practice.
Brenda, age 41I am pain free for the first time in twenty years and I don't need any medication not even an Advil.
Last year I walked into a Lowes home improvement center and quickly realized I needed to leave, my feet hurt so bad I couldn't even walk to the back of the store to grab what I needed. Now I am able to take one mile walks every morning and I am even able to take small runs ( that is something I thought I had said goodbye to forever) I suffer from awful bunions and regular yoga over the past year has really helped but not until aerial yoga was I pain free. The aerial downward dog makes my feet feel awesome. I own a mobile dog grooming business and groom 30+ dogs every week my body is in a constant state of injury. Once again yoga helped tremendously with my back and neck but aerial makes me feel like I'm in my twenties again. I have tried inversion therapy before with some relief but it was never consistent for me. Inversion plus stretching and strengthening was the key to relief for me. Also, my jaw (TMJ) hasn't bothered me once since I started my practice. I routinely suffered from migraine headaches from my neck and jaw and I haven't had one headache no less a migraine. I also wanted to share that when I was in my mid 30's I was diagnosed with early menopause . I have noticed that my hot flashes happen much less and I sleep like a baby. Hormonal insomnia is awful and I think that happy baby pose makes me sleep like a baby. Lastly I want you to know that I have been to other yoga studios and really felt out of place. I have social anxiety and it's not always easy to try something new. My healthy journey started almost a year ago and I've lost over 50 lbs. Yoga has played a huge roll in reshaping my body. I went from a trial offer to a membership to I can't live without having a aerial yoga silk installed in my house! Thanks again! |
Nichole, age 29I’ve been attending aerial yoga classes regularly for a few months and I was hooked after the first class!
I fortunately have never hated my body but lately I am shocked at how strong my core looks and feels, how far I am able to push my flexibility, and for the first time in my life I’m starting to build muscles in my upper body. I find myself able to complete and work through moves that I was terrified of during the first few classes because Leyna and her instructors are so supportive and encouraging. Aerial yoga has been a nice change to my normal floor yoga routine and I’m so thankful to have found the studio. For the first time in a while I find myself looking forward to going to classes again! Rachel, age 27Aerial yoga has truly been a saving grace in my life. I re-discovered the practice after learning that Leyna, who I had taken a class with in Lambertville had opened her new studio in Pennington. Remembering her beautiful spirit and amazing energy, I was excited to restart my aerial yoga journey, little did I know just how beneficial this decision would be.
Aerial yoga has not only allowed me to gain muscular strength and flexibility, but the practice has improved my emotional, spiritual, and reflective selves. I have overcome bouts of depression by focusing my mind and energies inward during aerial yoga. I have also cleansed myself of toxins, tension, and negative emotion, by letting go and learning how to fly in aerial. Leyna is an extraordinary teacher who seamlessly coaches students of varying abilities, and provides effective modifications based on individual student need, strength, or injury. Kathryn, age 61Because stuff happens in life I allowed myself to shut down and stopped working out. Tried the gym, tried a lot of things nothing really worked, nothing appealed to me. I was hooked after the first class! I have never found anything that beat stress like aerial.
I get stronger with every class and it feels effortless! Leyna is the best! |
Susan, age 48Aerial yoga has changed my life! Thanks to aerial I no longer have constant low back pain.
The pain was from slight scoliosis & a bulging disc. It prevented me from enjoying activities such as hiking, dancing and running around with my young son. About 6 weeks after starting aerial yoga, I noticed something was different. My back didn’t hurt. Not only that, but I was getting stronger. My posture improved. My sleep also improved. And I could participate in activities that I previously would pass on because of pain. Additionally, aerial has changed the way I think about what I can do. At first, when Leyna or one of the other instructors would demonstrate a new move, my initial reaction was, “I’ll never be able to do that.” Meanwhile, I was usually doing it by the following week. Now, when something seems impossible, my attitude is, “I can’t do that… yet. But I will.” I have taken this attitude with me to life outside of the aerial classroom. Leyna and all the instructors she trains are great. I'm so happy to have connected with this practice - it truly has changed my life. Esther, age 29When my life exploded into fragmented little pieces it felt like I had two options, to break down completely or to somehow blindly tough it out.
Leyna and aerial yoga showed me a third option. It taught me to reach down into myself, grab tightly to those pieces with all of my energy and drag them and myself upward and together, quite literally, into flight. Leyna's studio is unlike any other place I've been before. It's a place of fun, adventure, challenge, restorative poses, happy energy and most unique of all community. Leyna imbues her studio with a love that turns it from merely a place to go exercise and de-stress into a place that can feel like a second home. Love you Leyna and thanks for bringing proper aerial yoga and a love of flying into my life!!!! Mary, age 30
I'd read and heard a bit about yin yoga before deciding to try it out, but I didn't really know what to expect going into it. From my first yin class with Leyna, I was hooked. I loved everything about it, from her calming, cheerful presence, to how knowledgeable she was about all the poses and how our emotions manifest themselves in our bodies (which I found eye-opening, to say the least), to the practice itself. I find Leyna's style of yin to be very soothing, even when we're working hard. My overall flexibility has markedly improved since I started attending her yin classes almost a year ago, and I find that yin is a wonderful complement to my strength training. Leyna's yin classes were the reason I decided to commit to my first yoga studio membership. In me, Leyna has a fan for life. |
